A lot of bands claim Led Zeppelin as their main influence, but hell, the Want sound like we all hoped Page and Plant '90s collaboration would have. Where Page and Plant couldn't quite muster the energy of their previous incarnation, the Want sound like they stole Zoso's tour bus, a few of his Les Pauls and Marshall stacks, and Robert Plant's mojo -- not to mention a bit of Black Sabbath's dark intensity. This is not to say they're derivative, for the Want are like a beautiful extension of the great things that happened to Hard Rock in the '70s, with thunderous drums, psychedelic excursions and massive riffs -- all of which are recorded to sound like they came from real humans who like to smoke, drink beer and stay away from digital recording setups. Southern Lord Records, a typically Doom-heavy outfit that signed the band, have this to say about their music: "Get up and get your grandma outta here...IT'S TIME TO MOTHERF**KIN' ROCK!!!!" Oh, they're from Jersey too -- serious rock 'n' roll street cred.
