A Canadian-American country singer, he is also an ordained Minister in the Episcopal Church.
He became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1967, in 1993 he was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame and in 2002 became a member of the hall of fame of the North America Country Music Associations, International (NACMAI).
Known as "The Travelling Balladeer" & "The Western Gentleman."
