ROBINSON,FENTON Vinyl Records and CDs
The late singer and guitarist Fenton Robinson led the life of a journeyman musician for much of his career. He had a deep, smooth baritone voice, and a subtle, jazzy singing style. He was also an exceptional guitarist with a swinging, jazz-inflected sensibility. Robinson's work as a sideman includes playing guitar on Larry Davis' "Texas Flood," later covered to great effect by Stevie Ray Vaughan. He recorded steadily as a leader, and his most famous song is probably "Somebody Loan Me a Dime," which gave Boz Scaggs an early FM rock hit.
