Bobby Hackett's melodic trumpet style has worked wonders with Swing, Traditional Jazz and pop projects. He isn't a household name today, but he was hot enough to play with Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra and Dizzy Gillespie. He was also the main jazz soloist on Jackie Gleason's series of dreamy mood albums -- a gig that ultimately led to his own series of Lounge recordings, although Hackett always kept jazz as his main focus.
