The early-to-mid 1970s saw a plethora of stars making their way into the hearts, and living rooms, of American teens. David Cassidy, Bobby Sherman, Donny Osmond, Shawn Cassidy, and Leif Garrett all had their own television shows, singing careers, and cornered the market on covers for teen-oriented magazines such as Tiger Beat. The time was ripe to repackage the formula and sell it back to us. Enter the Bay City Rollers. This Scottish outfit managed to hit the charts with a seemingly high number of cover versions ("I Only Want To Be With You" and "Remember: Walking in the Sand" for example) but no matter -- they looked good in those tartan-trimmed outfits! Add to that a Saturday morning television show and you have all the makings of short-term, teen-driven success.
