With or without singer Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden have continued their heavy metal assault for the past twenty years -- brave soldiers for the Euro-Metal they fashioned from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Rhythmic velocity, intense, wailing dual lead guitars, and vocals that soared in concert with the epic imagery of the lyrics made them the lords of Metal throughout the '80s. Weathering the '90s with several lineup changes, Maiden have come full circle (well, sort of) with the 1999 return of Dickinson. Looks as if their fierce signature sound will charge into the new millennium.
