From his early days as Genesis' original front man, through his time as MTV-savvy hit-maker, and onto his current incarnation as a multi-media wizard, Peter Gabriel has fashioned a career that has seen him achieve great success while also maintaining a level of innovation not usually associated with commercial musicians. Though mostly known for big hits such as "Sledgehammer," Gabriel has also served as something of a world music envoy via his adventurous experiments in the realm of film soundtracks and his work as organizer of the WOMAD festival. Those achievements are even more impressive when you remember the man used to wear fox heads and batwings onstage.
