Passengers were an Italian group started by Kim Arena (Gesualdo Arena) in 1979 with producers Angelo & Felix Piccarreda and Celso Valli.
Chuck Rolando, Elwanda Contreras, and Kathleen Flynn joined Arena to form the original line up. Flynn left in 1980 and was replaced by Mary Shay.
They had significant success during the 1980s in Europe. Their original sound was firmly rooted in disco, but soon developed into pop and the foundations of italo disco.
Rolando left in 1984, and the group continued as a trio until they disbanded in 1991.
