Building on the songwriting skills of Curtis Mayfield, who wrote almost all of his music, Major Lance launched a career that not only resulted in a number of Soul and R&B hits throughout the 1960s, but the discovery of the Artistics as well. Unfortunately, his inability to adapt to the rapidly changing sound of Soul ended his career before he could ascend to superstar status.
