Poe signed to Atlantic Records in the mid-'90s, when so-called angry female singer-songwriters were flexing some serious chart-topping muscle. Poe's 1995 album Hello spawned the hit single "Angry Johnny," and the enormous amount of radio airplay that song received pushed the album up the charts. Since then, some of Poe's initial contemporaries have gone onto superstardom, while others have languished in near-obscurity. Poe's second album, Haunted was released in 2000, and only time will tell if she'll go down as a one-hit-wonder, or if she's destined for greener pastures.
