Since 1994 we've been rooting out the tasty rare punk vinyl and sending it worldwide. Discourage Records is primarily a used vinyl mail order located in
Portland, OR. Our first store front opened in 1994 and Discourage has done a
good proportion of business through mail order ever since.
The original vision of Discourage was to be a punk specific vinyl store, but over the years we've also stocked a selection of Heavy Metal, Noise/Experimental, Rock, Industrial, 80's Pop/New Wave, Mod, Grind, World Music, Electronic, Rockabilly, Doom, Soul, Hip Hop, Funk, etc.
Top dollar paid for rare punk! Trades are welcome too.

Grading Grading: Our grading system is sleeve/vinyl using the following scale: M (perfect - hardly touched by human hands. vinyl never played. flawless cover or picture sleeve) M- (nearly perfect. vinyl may have been played though there's no evidence as such, cover or picture sleeve would be nearly perfect - touched by human hands) NM (very carefully handled. may be trace evidence of previous ownership/play. really nice) EX (light amount of wear.. might be light and inaudible scuff or two, evidence of previous ownership) VG+ ( average wear.. might be ring wear, slightly audible vinyl problems, slight seam splitting, stains or discoloration) VG (moderate and easily noticeable wear but still plays through and isn't totally unpresentable. might have any or several of the problems above to a slightly greater degree) VG- (slightly worse than vg..people who care about condition should avoid from records graded vg-) G+ (slightly worse than vg-..people who care about condition should stay away from records graded G+) G (guaranteed to play through, though it's not recommended to be played on a quality turntable. vinyl would be scratched/warped or otherwise messed up. covers would be significantly damaged in some way. people who care about condition should stay away from records graded G). We are fairly conservative graders. If you have any questions about what to expect with a given grade please ask. All records are graded aurally and using 20/20 vision. Furthermore, the hounds give everything a thorough sniffing to weed out possible boots, counterfeits, and innocent fugitives. If no grade is given for the cover or picture sleeve this means that the record never came with one. If the record is missing the sleeve then we will let you know in our notes or mention a photocopy of the p.s. that we have provided (unless the majority of the press was released sleeveless). Return Policy
Return Policy We are not responsible for items lost in the mail, damaged in transit, or not arrived. I We package well in boxes made specifically for records, use at least one insulating cardboard square inside each package, and always remove vinyl from covers to avoid seam splits (unless an item is sealed, in which case we'll only do so with customer approval). For additional protection we recommend adding Insurance to your package within the USA. For international packages Registered Mail can be purchased for an additional $19. We will offer a same value exchange (toward merchandise) for buyers who order the wrong item and wish to return. We will make full restitution if there is a seller error. Buyer pays for shipping on any agreed upon returns unless the return is based on seller error.
