Ricky Van Shelton was an overnight country music sensation whose fifteen minutes of fame were very productive. Between 1987 and 1994, he recorded four platinum albums and had thirteen chart-topping hits (many of which were covers of older hits). His highly polished Country Pop was marked by a rich baritone vocal inflection on which he heavily relied.
