Plainsong were a quartet formed in England in the early '70s by former Fairport Convention singer Iain Matthews. Their 1972 release In Search of Amelia Earhart was a much-lauded slice of British Folk, but the band fell apart before its follow-up could be recorded. It would be another twenty years before the band would regroup to record Dark Side of the Room in 1993. The band have continued to record their Celtic-inspired folk with producer John Wood -- who produced Nick Drake and John Martyn -- now at the helm.
