This Canadian youngster got her big break after the demo tape she circulated got the A&R world buzzing. Impressed with her spunky style, label reps flocked to her showcases. Eventually, the folks at Island won out, and Dobson headed into the studio to record her eponymous debut in 2003, featuring songs inspired by such diverse muses as Nirvana, the Chili Peppers and, erm, Judy Garland.
