Conditions and Grading

Gradings are in the form of Sleeve/Disc, e.g. EX/MINT. In this case the
sleeve is in excellent condition (first grade) and the disc is in mint
condition (second grade). If there is only one condition, i.e. /EX, it means
that the item is not in or was not issued with a picture sleeve and that the
disc/record is excellent.
PLEASE NOTE:
Vinyl Tap operates as a physical store. For display and security reasons, new release items may have been removed from their sleeves.
If you wish to receive a sealed copy of a new release item please check that we have one available before placing your order. If a sealed copy isn't available we may be able to order another copy in for you.
Additionally, if you would prefer for sealed items to be removed from their sleeves to avoid seam splits and sleeve damage in transit, then please let us know and we will arrange this for you.

Record Collector's Grading System

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

CDs & CASSETTES: As a general rule, CDs and cassettes either play perfectly - in which case they are in Mint condition - or they don't, in which case their value is minimal. Cassette tape is liable to deteriorate with age, even if it remains unplayed, so care should be taken when buying old tapes. CDs are difficult to grade visually: they can look perfect but actually be faulty, while in other cases they may appear damaged but still play perfectly. Cassette and CD inlays and booklets should be graded in the same way as record covers and sleeves. In general, the plastic containers for cassettes and CDs can easily be replaced if they are broken or scratched, but card covers and digipaks are subject to the same wear as record sleeves

Return Policy

All items are guaranteed for up to 2 weeks after delivery, so if you are unhappy at all with your purchase you can return it for either a refund or credit to use towards a future order. If you do have any issues with an order, please feel free to contact us, and we will be more than happy to help resolve any issues you may have.

If your order does not arrive within the expected delivery time, please check with your post office to see if they have the parcel held for you, and if they are unable to help, please contact us within 2 weeks after the expected delivery time, so we can attempt to trace the location of the parcel, and issue a replacement or refund if necessary.

If you are returning an item because it is not as described, then the original purchase price plus return shipping costs (up to the equivalent of what it would cost us to send the item Standard Delivery) will be refunded upon return. If you are returning an item because it was ordered in error or you have changed your mind, then shipping costs will not be refunded.

There is a parcel weight limitation of 2kg (approximately 7 LPs or 25 7" records) to countries outside of the UK, so the base shipping rate will need to be paid for each 2kg parcel required in an order.
